01
Check symptoms
We ask what you have noticed: scale returning, a full salt tank, unusual cycling, a leak, or no soft water at a tap. Then we inspect the unit, bypass position, valve display, brine tank, and drain path. This first check usually takes 15 to 30 minutes and helps separate a settings issue from a failed part or plumbing fault.
02
Test supply and setup
We review the softener's capacity, household demand, and available installation space, then check the surrounding connections. If pressure seems low, we compare readings with a pressure gauge and inspect for a restriction. We also verify that the drain connection and nearby shutoff arrangement suit the installation before recommending repair or replacement.
03
Explain the repair
We show you the failed or worn component and explain the work needed in plain terms. A stuck control valve, damaged brine float, blocked injector, or leaking joint calls for a different fix than an undersized or end-of-life system. You get upfront pricing before work begins, with the repair route distinguished from installing a replacement.
04
Complete plumbing work
For a repair, we service the affected valve or connection and restore the original system. For a new unit, we isolate the water, remove the old equipment when applicable, connect the new softener, and route the drain correctly. The work often takes 1 to 6 hours depending on access, required pipe changes, and whether the drain or shutoffs need adjustment.
05
Run and verify
We reopen the water supply, check every joint for leaks, set the clock and regeneration controls, and run the appropriate startup or service cycle. We confirm the bypass is in its operating position and review salt level and routine checks with you. Before leaving, we explain what to watch for over the next 24 hours.
